About Us

About Us

We are Klara Hallgrímsdóttir and Snorri Wium, and are certified mountain and glacier guides with extensive experience and a deep passion for Icelandic nature. We take pride in offering tours that we ourselves enjoy, sharing unique hidden gems, stories, and experiences.

Snorri Wium

Founder and guide

Snorri was born and raised in Reykjavík. He studied classical singing in both Iceland and Vienna, where he completed a diploma in opera singing. Following his studies, he worked for many years as an opera singer across Europe, primarily in Germany and Austria.

Despite his passion for music, Snorri has always felt a deep connection to nature. When the Eyjafjallajökull eruption began in 2010, he decided to follow his heart and turned entirely to guiding. Since then, he has worked in private guiding and bespoke tours around Iceland, utilizing his knowledge of the land and its history to create personal and meaningful experiences for guests.

Snorri speaks Icelandic, English, and German. He is known for his calm presence, excellent storytelling skills, and a keen eye for the balance between nature, stillness, and human connection. Like Klara, Snorri also participates in Freyja Travel’s international trips, which focus on public health, culture, and nature—experiences that nourish both body and soul.

Klara Hallgrímsdóttir

Guide and co-owner

Klara was born in the Westman Islands and raised in Hafnarfjörður. She is a trained teacher with a B.Ed. degree and worked for years as a mathematics and natural science teacher before her passion for travel and the outdoors took over.

She has worked as a ski instructor in the Alps, studied in Germany, and cycled through the Andes in South America. She is fluent in Icelandic, English, and German, and also knows a bit of Pinzgauerisch, a colorful Austrian dialect.

Klara has been guiding since 1998, both in Iceland and abroad. In recent years, she has specialized in private guiding and off-the-beaten-path adventure tours, using her broad experience and personal approach to create unique experiences. She also organizes and leads hiking, cycling, and skiing trips to Austria, as well as continuing education trips for teachers where nature, culture, and professional learning intertwine.

The common thread in all her work is public health and well-being—ensuring that the journey strengthens both body and soul, leaving behind good memories and a deeper connection to nature.

Sólon

Our Four-Legged Travel Companion 🐾

It’s not always just humans who go on journeys with Freyja Travel—sometimes our beloved companion, Sólon, tags along. He is a white and fluffy Siberian Samoyed, over six years old, and always in a good mood.

Sólon is likely one of the most well-traveled dogs in Iceland—he has traveled through mountains and wilderness with our guests and charms everyone he meets. He has also worked as a school dog for several winters, where his calm and gentle nature brought joy to children and adults alike.

On our trips, he is the calmest companion, always happy with his lot in life and appearing to enjoy being out in Icelandic nature just as much as we do. There’s no question who gets the most attention when Sólon joins a trip—he steals everyone's hearts in an instant.

Our Mission

With our combined experience, education, and love for this country, we create trips that reflect the interests, pace, and dreams of every traveler. in icelandic
